I love 90's hardcore. In the insert for the end of irony LP palatka thanks books instead of bands. How can i not like a band that thanks both bell hooks and Gary Gygax?
this is my obligatory "update my live journal once every 3 months" post. |

So this band i have been playing in in new york recorded some songs on my computer at practice on saturday. they sound really really awful but i am excited about it so i thought i would post it up here for anyone that cares. the band is tentatively called margin walker.

I am sitting in the library near the kid who has PKIA and sunset riders on his computer again. I actually saw him this time. I think his name may be Chris Nano...at least that is what his computer is called. Thinking he is maybe from california and got this stuff when pkia and sunset riders toured a few years ago? is this creepy that i have made 2 livejounral posts about this in the last year? |

New York is pretty good. I am really excited about this new band i am doing. I am too busy all the time I wake up at 6:30 every morning and get home at about 9 or 10 every night. Teaching reading in first grade Running a seminar for high school kids taking classes at my college. Ride my bike about 25-30 miles a day. One of my roommates has a dog, we put cloths on it. Started reading some short stories by Jorge Luis Borges last night and i am really into them. I miss the northwest and everyone in it. Playing Dungons and Dragons Tomorrow. Haven't been in an active band for about a hear, really excited about playing music. Really bummed about missing the last Valley and Flex show. |

I've been in new york for about two weeks now and it has actually been really good. I think not living in manhattan and living with people i like has made a huge difference. I already have found some people to play music with, I am really excited about it. School starts in a few days, i am actually pretty excited. I am going to be super busy but it should be good, here is what my schedule will look like. monday thru thursday get up at 7 ride 15 miles to work, leave work at 11 ride 10 miles to school, go to school from 12-4. go to the library and do homework from 4 to anywhere from 8 pm to 1 am then ride 5 miles home. and then fridays i work from 9-3 and have class from 3:45-5:30. It is going to be hectic, oh well |

IT IS TOO GOD DAMN HOT.
it has been like 85-90 every day and it has been humid and we don't have an air conditioner and my fan sucks. i feel like i am constantly sweating.
on the bright side i took a bike ride to the beach with some friends today and went swimming, it was really nice. i got home from that at like 5 and made myself a tofu sandwich and some top ramen. i spent the rest of the night hanging out with the dog and reading. things are going pretty well, i am going to play music with someone tomorrow, which i am pretty excited about. |

I'm in new york, at my appartment hanging out with the dog, her name is yaffa and she is adorable. the person who lives in my room is moving out right now, i am going to move in in a few hours. our building has a roof with a hammock on it, the roof looks out across manhattan, it is pretty awesome.
seriously though, this dog. so cute. |

I am getting rid of some records. most of them are actually pretty good but i don't listen to them enough to warrant keeping them around
7"'s We Are Corpses/Her Breath on Glass (the packaging on this record is absolutely rediculous, Her breath on glass is members of saddest landscape and the last 40 seconds...i am not going to lie it is not that good) Goodbye Blue Monday-S/T EP 12"'s 1905- Voice Her Breath on Glass-Buildings Monuments to Survival The Hives-AKA I.D.I.O.T LP(this is actually suprisingly kind of good) I Hate Myself-1 sided 12" Julia-S/T LP No Idea comp LP with tons of bands on it such as Braid, Hot Water Music, Floor, Christie Front Drive, and a ton of others Orchid-Gatefold LP Reversal of Man- LP Still Life/Jara Split LP
I am guessing no one is going to want any of these...and actually i am not going to lie most of these records are not good....with the exception of orchid, reversal of man, the no idea comp, and julia. the rest if pretty bad. but if anyone wants any of this they should offer me something.
on the upside I got like 10 records today, all of which rule. The Conversions LP is really good. looking forward to listening to the death to tyrants LP and to the Career suicide LP i got. |

I hardly ever post anything serious on here but these are too accurate to pass up.
Welcome to your new home. Here's your bed. You'll sleep alone. Getting everything you wanted. Getting everything you wanted and some. Here's the kitchen. Cook alone. Look at the water boil. At the table sit and stare. Soup with bread with so much care for ___.
All my friends back east keep asking, "What have you done with your life?" Just a little too strung out to lie. Suddenly it seems so clear. Rejecting what you can't have. Light a candle, smoke and pray
all good sins will find you one day. Now another month is gone. Soon it will be a year. Go to bed and say out loud, "Is it over where it's all gone wrong?"
All my friends back east keep asking, "What have you done with your life?" Just a little too strung out to lie.
My ambition keeps getting in the way. When I found my voice there's nothing left to say. Inhibition keeps me behind this door. My life's a running joke. What am I? What am I running for?
seriously spot on. |

I am home, here is a conversation i overheard on the plane
"yeah so you always know when dad is driving around because he has a stretch limo that is painted red white and blue and on one side it has all the names of the american soldiers that have died in Iraq and on the other side is the names of other armed forces members who have died other places. He has these speakers under the hood too that play patriotic music when he is driving around, my brothers and sisters always get real embarrassed but you know i always say, hey its got tinted windows no one is gonna know your in it"
I am not making this shit up, i want to ride in that car. the guy who he was talking to smelled awful. |

another update from the library, it is really quiet and i am sitting right next to the bathroom. I just heard the loudest pooping noises ever coming from the bathroom(this is through a closed door that is about 10 feet away). should be pretty awkward when the person walks out.
I don't ever post on this but for some reason i feel the need to say this. |

I am so tired of sharing a room with 3 other people. Seriously, sometimes I don't want to hang out, I don't want to have to listen to other people hanging out, sometimes I just want to read and listen to some music and have a nice relaxed night by myself.
2 more weeks |

Chumbawumba is so fucking good, pictures of starving children to sell records is such a good record. the music is pretty goofy on about half of it but it is so good as like a concept album. basically if the lyrics on this didnt rule os much this record would be terrible but the whole album is just executed so well. shit i feel so goofy listening to chumbawumba but i cant stop.
good thing i posted for the first time in 2 months just to say this....might as well add something
I am moving to olympia next year- new york sucks and i dont want to stay here so i am moving back to washington, i come home on may 14th i am pretty excited. |
